In order to have intimacy with God, we must know Him and to know Him we must read and study His Word.

To be approved by God we must be blameless and righteous, but we all fall short, because we sin. Sin is the same meaning as our missing the mark of God's standards of living.

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God
Once we know God as HOLY, we see we are in need of a Savior, because we are sinners before a God Who will not tolerate sin.

It is important to daily examine ourselves and repent of any sin that is made know to us through the Holy Spirit Breathed Word of God written in the Bible.

The Lord cannot use His Christians fully until they have surrendered everything to Him, including themselves. That means besetting sins that linger secretly in the dark areas of our lives (our fleshly desires) that we continue to cling to.

Romans 3:10
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

In our natural nature we do not seek after God in perfect love as we should. Perfect love is described to us through the New Testament. His Word asks us to seek Him with all of our hearts, minds, and strength. Knowing this bothered me until God ministered to me and revealed to my heart that I needed to understand the love of Christ that He wants to develop in me. His love now continues to grow stronger daily, because I abide in Him through His Glorious Word. Now I am able by the developing love of Christ (being made known to me and written in my heart by the Holy Spirit teaching me as I seek God and His plan to use me for His Glory) to reach out to people who I would normally shun. Through my constant sensitivity to His piercing Word, I see where I need to choose to follow the leading of God's Spirit to humble myself in repentance to my former waywardness to Jesus' way. Hence, I see there is a loss for the unrepentant believer. The loss is the abundant life that is made manifest by God's Spirit moving in and through the Christian. God cannot move through sin, but He will through a heart after His Own. Repentance means to morn over sin, to confess it, and to turn away from it and not practice it anymore. It is His good pleasure to use us in this way, with His Glory made manifest in us to be seen by the unbelieving world. Let Him use you that way!

Matthew 18:14
Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

This is the reason God sent Jesus Christ is so we would have The Way to have an eternal relationship with God, and in that relationship to be used now in this darkened world as an extension of His ministry to share the Good News of the Gospel! So that all could have the Grace of God in their lives, and the forgiveness humanity needs from their sin, that was provided by the sacrifice of the Unblemished Lamb of God! Making Jesus the Only Way to the Father's presence!!!!

This is why we need the understanding that we are sinners that need Jesus as Savior and Lord over our lives, while praying in genuine repentance, and willingness to walk worthy of our calling, all the while giving all our praise, thankfulness, obedience and glory to God for His grace given to us who were dead in our sins.

As God continues to grow us up in the knowledge of His Word that renews our minds, while at the same time transforming us into the mind of Christ, this prayer is to keep our focus on the fact that every trial and difficult season of our life was to teach us to repent from sinning, to remain obedient to His will for blessing, or the consequences are the loss of His favor toward us.
Here are some Scriptures to pray in:

Matthew 6:13
And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. KJV

Psalm 139:23
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if [there be any] wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Eph 4:1
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.

Col 1:10
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 Strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; 12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, [even] the forgiveness of sins

1 Thes 2:12
That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. 13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received [it] not [as] the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe...

Romans 10:17
So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Rev 3:3
Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. 4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments (remained true to God and His Word); and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. 5 He (remnant/those true to God) that overcometh(sin/defiling the walk of a Christian), the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
